Volunteering
The SF Care Foundation was formed as an opportunity to recognize the warrior within all of us, and to honor warriors of another kind. When times are good, it is easy to be strong. But, when darkness falls after a scary diagnosis is given, and when the highest stakes are in the balance, fear and terror of the heart arrive.
The opponent is the disease, and the Warriors are everyone else; especially the patient. This happened to the Fisher Family, and even after everything was attempted, He lost his son John to the battle. But, how he fought, and how everyone else did too, inspired our origin and work.
We cannot return John to his family, but we can share with everyone who he was and still is. Because of John, we bring honor to these warriors, who show us the best all of us can be when facing the worst. Our purpose is to share the fresh air that heals and restores; fresh air we found in our darkest moments; when even a prayer seemed more an enemy than a friend” our ongoing mission is to help heal people, even if in the smallest way, through the gift of art.
